Thunderball Driving Academy

SKILLS development is at the forefront of Thunderball’s vision to be the leading catalyst for socio-economic growth in the country, with its driver training programme leading the pack in ensuring the unemployed and the youth in particular are able to enter the job market with essential skills in place. Many people face barriers and challenges when it comes to obtaining a driver’s licence. Not having a licence can be a major setback in a young person’s life, making it harder to find employment and holding them back from educational and social opportunities. The Thunderball Driving Academy program aims to help people to overcome these barriers, achieve their licensing goals and open up new opportunities in their lives.

The programme is provided free of charge to the identified beneficiaries in line with the Amy Foundation’s Social Investment programme. These beneficiaries cannot afford to go to driving schools, because many of them are impoverished. With this programme we try to instil hope and provide the targeted beneficiaries with an opportunity that would normally not be achievable.

The funding for the driver training programme is derived from revenue generated through the annual Thunderball Rally. The Thunderball driver training programme produces highly skilled and safe drivers needed on our roads thus contributing towards the reduction of road accidents.
